Thanks for the information, however when I click on the free shipping to link over, this is what I get:
chanel exception has occurred:
No block found given name.
block(s)=[straight.bright_point.landing]
Any ideas on how to get free shipping without going through your link?
Hi Stacey,
Brightpoint is the company that handles the orders for Straight Talk/Tracfone, so that error would indicate they may be having momentary issues. Just wait a bit, click on the free shipping link to go to Straight Talk and try again.
10/26/2009, free shipping link still not working…
A chanel exception has occurred:
No block found given name.
block(s)=[straight.bright_point.landing]
Hi,
It is not the link, it is the Straight Talk page that is giving this error. Try going to the straight talk website directly and see if you get the error. Also, try using Firefox to see if you still get the error.
I was instructed by StraightTalk Customer Service, to go to the SUPPORT button, then click on PHONE this will bring you to the seven (7) phones available by Straight Talk.
If this doesnt work for you, call them at: 1-877-430-2355. I checked in with them for a text phone for my 15 yr old.
I don’t think this will work because the phone link does not take you to the enter zip page. That page only takes you to the phone manuals and such. I suggest anybody having this issue call that Straight Talk customer service so that they can have this fixed. I called them myself and not surprisingly, the CS was totally oblivious to it.
I just got a samsung R451C with straight talk. I love the phone, but I was wondering when I try to go online to myspace or something it says I need to enable javascript I was wondering how to do it. Can anyone help me????
@Deloris
Hi there, Since the 451 is not a full html browser phone, it does not support javascript. That being said, most major sites have mobile versions without javascript. Typically, you are automatically redirected to their mobile versions when accessing through mobile phones. I have been able to successfully access Twitter and Facebook on the 451. As for myspace, try m.myspace.com which i believe is the mobile version. For facebook try m.facebook.com and for twitter, try m.twitter.com. If you find others that you get the javascript error on, google the mobile version of the site to get the mobile address, you can then use that address on the 451
I love my phone, the service bla bla bla, but I just bought a memory card, i inserted it in my computer, selected the song, copied it, put it bak in my phone, a repeated process, and I still have nothing. What m I doin wrong??? If anyone can shed some light on this it would b greatly appreciated. Thx:-)
I have a samsung r451c for straight talk and cannot for the life of me figure out how to set the 4-digit security code…now i understand how to lock the KEYPAD, what i am trying to do is lock the actual PHONE so that others cannot go through my pix, txt, etc…can anyone tell me how to do this?
The phone should recognize the card on its own. You can easily tell if it’s recognizing it by selecting your MP3 player. If it goes into the player, then it’s recognizing it. What size card do you have? I believe the highest the 451 will support is 4gb. Other possibility is the card being upside down on the phone?
The only thing you can restrict are the calling capabilities, ie. lock it so that calls can’t be made from it. I don’t think you can restrict the stuff you want to restrict, at least no mention of that in the manual.
Mine does the samr thing. I have called strat talk I have took it back to the store 5 times I can’t get anything to go on the card however the caed works fine in my MOTOROLO
Has anyone been able to download opera mini to their s.t. 451? I switched from Boost using a Krzr phone and it was like using your p.c. with opera mini. And now I find out I cant download opera mini to s.t. or worse I can\’t download didly caca. No games, no ringtones the ringtones s.t. provides really are a joke. I wish I would have known all this before I made the switch. I should have known it wasn\’t all it claims to be. It took 3weeks to port my # over from Boost.
You will not be able to download Opera mini or games to the 451 as this phone is locked down in that regard. As for ringtones, you can download any mp3 tone you want from whatever source, then transfer the tones to the phone’s sd card, you can read more on that here. . Forget downloading through the Straight Talk portal because it’s limited. The ST plan is more for those who want a solid inexpensive calling plan out there (the $30 plan) . The data services are basic and obviously not as good as Boost.
@Nicole
i tried the lasst four digits of my phone # and it worked. example 555-555-9654 code is 9654.
Can I block a specific number from texting me?
I was wonadering if the straight talk full keyboard phone…. if the keyboard can be used for taxting??
Yes, you can text with the R451C.
Make sure songs are converted to mp3 format if they are not already. mp3 files then go into the “my music” file on the card.
i could finally use myspace now…it also said that i needed to enable java script but i haded to type m.myspace.com..thank u so much
i was trying to get msg alerts from facebook but i can’t it says network error..how can i get facebook alerts to my phone???
Sorry, not a big facebook fan so not really sure how those alerts come in. My guess is that you probably cannot see them because they are triggered by some sort of Javascript code and as you know, these phones have basic browsers that do not support Javascript. You can try the m.facebook.com but more than likely, there will be no in-screen/pop up type alerts. I do know that facbook sends email alerts, you can have those sent to yourcellnumber@vtext.com and you will get them as text messages on your straight talk phone. If you would like a javascript capable phone, then upgrading to the Samsung Finesse would do the trick since it has a full html browser.
Has anyone loaded Skype on the R451C? And if so, how?
You will not be able to load skype on either the 451 or 355. These phones do not have any sort of app engine or mechanism for loading apps. The Straight Talk Samsung R810C Finesse does have an app engine but not sure if Skype can be loaded on it or not.
Can anyone out there tell me what is the best least expensive bluetooth can be used with a Samsung T451 C cell phone by Straight Talk? I tried using a T9 bluedio bluetooth with it ,but got nothing. is there some trick to hooking these types phones up to a bluetooth that i might not be aware of? Thankyou inadvance for your help. Bill
Fist, there are different BT versions and we would need to find out what version that headset is using. Then I need to get the version the phone uses. In rare cases there are compatibility issues. The other thing is the headset has to be in discover mode and not connected to any other device. If it is connected then it will not work until disconnected. Lastly make sure the phones BT is turned on and visible.
ok are there any websites that can be used to get ringtones without having to download and then install any programs cuz i cant install anything on my computer???
I suppose you mean from the phone. If so, you could get them directly from the Straight Talk web portal that the phone opens when launching the browser but of course that is not free. Another option is to download the tone to your pc then use this ringtone upload tool to send it to the phone. Yet another option is to get a data cable & sd card and move them from your pc directly to the phone, this does not require any software to be installed. Other than that, there are no ringtone providers that I know of that will work directly with the Straight talk phones. At some point you will need to download the tones then transfer them to the phone with the methods described above.
How can I get instructions on texting other than what came with my Straight Talk phone. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Would love to help you out. What in particular are you having trouble with? Texting on the 451 is pretty simple.
To initiate a text simply go to Menu, then Messages and click ok.
Select choice #1 Send Message and click ok.
Select choice #1 Text Message and click ok.
You will get 5 boxes, this is where you enter the numbers you want to text. If only texting to 1 person, then just enter their number in box #1 and click ok.
You can now enter your message so slide your keyboard out and type your message.
Once you are done, just click the ‘ok’ key on the qwerty keyboard and it’s sent.
That’s all there is to it. To send to someone in your contact list:
Click the Menu and scroll to Contacts then click ok button.
Scroll to your desired contact and click the ok button again.
This opens your contact, you can now click the button under Options (the right button with the white line).
You will now get a menu of options, select option #3 Send Txt Msg option then click the ok button.
You are now ready to type your message. Slide the keyboard open and type your message.
Click the ‘ok’ button on the keyboard when ready to send.
When in the keyboard mode with keyboard slid out you can toggle between numbers and letters with the fn key. The shift button will toggle between caps and lower case when in letter mode. Symbols like %$* etc, can be typed while on number mode and selecting the key with the symbol on it.
You can see what mode you are on, letters or numbers, by looking at the bottom left hand corner 123 for numbers, abc for lowercase letters, Abc to caps the first letter, ABC for all caps.
That’s all there is to it really. After a few texts and you will quickly get the hang of it.
